Certified Cost Engineer (CCE) Course

Certified Cost Engineer (CCE) Course

"A very comprehensive course and a must do for any Cost Engineering Professional looking to expand his/her horizons and add real value to a wide range of industries." - Francesco Ascagni

There is a growing demand for highly qualified Cost Engineers. Companies acknowledge the need for good estimating, planning and cost control capabilities for the preparation and execution of their capital projects. The Cost Engineer is at the pivot point between technical project requirements and the financial framework in a company.

In that role, the Cost Engineer is essential for effective projects, and supports the project manager to deliver projects within schedule and budget. In more general terms, Cost Engineers acquire ever more important roles in the control of entire company operations.

"The Certified Cost Engineer Course will accelerate the development of your professional skills."

For many years, DACE has organized the Certified Cost Engineer (CCE) Course, which facilitates the increase in the number of cost engineers in the Dutch-speaking region. As the course is recognized to be very valuable by companies also working outside the Netherlands, the need for an international accessible course was identified.

To fulfil this industrial requirement, DACE developed an international version of the CCE course by upgrading and renewing existing course materials in the English language. DACE proudly presents the international version of this successful course.

Course objectives

The course is focused on application of Cost Engineering in the process industry (petrochemical, food and beverages etc.) However, during the course parallels will be drawn to different industries, such as construction and infrastructure. Therefore the course will be very instructive and valuable for a broad range of engineers working in many different areas related to project costs. The CCE course will help you develop your professional skills and competences to be a successful cost estimator, planner and cost controller in a wide range of project types.

Dutch Association of Cost Engineers (DACE) is founded to share and promote Cost Engineering knowledge. DACE is a non-profit organization supported by industry. DACE organizes courses, network activities, price booklets and labour norms.

" The course Certified Cost Engineer has really broadened my horizon as it takes an integrated approach towards cost engineering: from cost control to cost estimating and from scheduling to project management. Being a certified cost engineer also opened up new opportunities for me as it is a recognized and a sought after qualification within many industries." - Steffen van der Molen

"Being a Mechanical Engineer, the CCE course provided me the opportunity to merge the Technical environment with Cost & Project Management.  This was such an interesting experience that I swapped my career path from Mechanical Engineering to Project Management & Services.  This opened an amazing Project portfolio delivery journey over 25 years with the core CCE course content,  Project Management, Risk Management, Cost Estimating, Cost Control & Planning recognized as critical elements for successful Project delivery." - Richard van Tricht.

“Working as a Cost Estimating Engineer in Shell Projects & Technology, I sometimes don’t know which are typical Shell processes, and what is the common practice in the cost engineering discipline. Through the DACE CCE Course teachers and participants, I have gained a much broader and diverse insight in our discipline.” - Edward Rademaker

Certified Cost Engineer Course by Jeroen Suppers (Machine and Manufacturering

The DACE CCE course is mainly set-up for Cost Engineering in the process industry. So why should a Cost Engineer from a machine-building company even consider to attend it? Well, because despite the differences in fields of application, I have experienced that there are many similarities with our day-to-day challenges!

It all started with the ambition to improve my knowledge about Cost Engineering in order to improve Cost Management within Marel. I successfully finished the course in 2020 and in the 1.5 years it took, the various subjects and group activities provided me both theoretical and practical knowledge, which I could directly apply within my company.

It has supported the development of Marel's Global Costing Process to improve the focus of the project team on cost price during our projects. Moreover, I achieved a better view on cost price determination and its uncertainties and have a better understanding of managing target cost prices (budgets) and dealing with changes in time which helps the project team to meet the expected project outcome.

I look back to an intense study period, but the course has given me a lot of personal and work value and broadened my view on Cost Engineering, from food processing machines to chemical processing plants!
